The Columbia Rd combines classic Mixte-inspired frame lines and a low-step through frame with the contemporary performance of modern disc brakes in an eminently practical and stylish package.
To describe the Columbia Road as a 'women’s specific' bike would be doing this bike a huge disservice. It's true, the low diagonal toptube design was originally conceived for more flattering riding in skirts/dresses and easier mounts/dismounts (and the Columbia Rd does this very well), but look beyond that and you'll see the ideal, easy-access bicycle for both men and women alike, with poor flexibility, old niggling injuries who are otherwise being prevented from riding by restrictive frame designs.
AKA ‘Thor’s Hammer’ and pronounced ‘Myol-n(ee)r‘ (rolls off the tongue, eh?). Our double-butted, cold-drawn, seamless, Taiwanese chromoly tubeset also goes by the aliases of 4130, Cr-Mo and Chromo. It’s a like-for-like replacement for other, identical branded chromoly tubing and ultimately means a saving can be passed onto you via either a healthy price drop or a little more room for up-speccing elsewhere without sacrificing performance.
Whilst the simplified, pared-down 1x9 gearing might look like we're scrimping on spec, the reality is that you're paying for the gears you're actaully going to be using. X9 gears, with a perfect urban range that's not too spinny on the flats but with plenty in reserve for those unexpected short, sharp ascents.
45mm Chromoplastic mudguards are a custom extended length with the longest mudflaps we could find resulting in excellent coverage - dry toes for you and minimal spray for following riders.
Shimano TourneyTX mechanical disc brakes are paired with Jagwire KEB-SL compression-less cable outer for optimal braking performance.
