So here we have it; a full, no-holds-barred 3AL-2.5V double-butted Titanium version of the CdF with all the bells and whistles for people wanting a faster, lighter CdF that retains the cross-terrain capacity for which the CdF is famous. Heck, it’s even fully internal Di2-ready for those wanting to go the whole hog!
Carefully selected tube profiles are designed to give the new double-butted Titanium platform a stiff and efficient pedalling platform whilst retaining the same connected feel and ‘in-saddle’ comfort for which the steel CdF is famed. Fully oval Ø28.6/35mm toptube and cleverly swaged seatube (for Ø27.2mm seatpost) are all engineered to deliver high levels of comfort whilst the large diameter Ø44mm oval-rounded trapezoid downtube, beefy S-Bend mtb-derived chainstays, tapered Ø56-46mm headtube and Ø34.9mm lower seattube OD help ensure direct and efficient power transfer and pinpoint sharp handling.
Posh, but not too posh to forgo the versatile everyday practicalities for which the CdF is famous - you'll find we've kept the mudguard eyelets, rear rack mounts and generous tyre clearances that help enable it to take on many different incarnations. The one bike to rule them all?!
Makes not only the ideal material for aircraft hydraulic systems (meets all Aerospace Material Specifications for hydraulic tubing), but bicycle frames too thanks to its’ high strength-to-weight ratio. It’s seamless, more malleable than Ti-6-4 (is therefore perfectly happy being cold-worked), is double-butted to help drop material and weight where it’s not needed and is heat-treated to boost tensile strength. What’s this mean for you? A great riding, lightweight, corrosion-resistant frame.
Class-leading weight for the width (410g @24/19mm)and much lighter than the more mtb-focused rims used on CdF’s of old, the Alex Draw 1.9S rims feature a 19mm internal width to offer great support and profile to the 35c Clement rubber, are tubeless ready and utilise offset spoke drilling for equal spoke tensions with disc hub flanges for balanced spoke tensions and a stronger wheel.
Our new handlebar is the bastard love child between a modern compact drop bar and a traditional randonneur handlebar of old. The acclaimed flared drops (8deg) and backswept tops (6deg) of a traditional rando bar but without the old-school backbreaking drop and reach to give a wider, more natural drop bar position for and increased comfort and control (especially off-road).
