How do you take road hydraulic disc brakes - a technology uniquely suited to the Equilibrium line-up - and make it accessible to the masses?
With TRP's excellent Hy/Rd calipers, that's how! Dedicated hydraulic disc set-ups are awesome, but, alas, come with a hefty pricetag. TRP's solution is to combine traditional cable actuation with a single, standalone hydraulic caliper to great effect – a very effective halfway house, if you will
Combine them with high quality compression-less cable outer, as we've done here, and, with the vastly improved modulation we think you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference!
Classic seamless Chromoly (as above) but heat-treated to boost tensile strength. Think of it as Chromoly on steroids. It’s heated to around 1600F whereby a structural change in the steels’ crystal lattice occurs (a stronger, more uniform orientation). As it’s stronger we can away with using less of it so thinner butts are the order of the day here, helping to achieve a lighter overall frame weight, without compromising strength.
The 'Paris Roubaix' part should be a dead giveaway as to the type of riding these high-volume, lightweight (~240g) 27c tyres are aimed at - fast and comfortable over rough surfaces. AKA ideal for the majority of the UK's roads!
TRP's revolutionary Hy/Rd brakes combine traditional cable actuation with hydraulic power to great effect, allowing you to enjoy all the benefits associated with hydraulic braking (good power and modulation, self centring pads, minimal maintenance) without the expensive dedicated hydraulic shifter setup. We've also combined them with Jagwire KEB-SL compressionless outer for optimum performance. The devil's in the detail!
Fulcrum Racing Sport DB CX
With the UK's infamous weather in mind we've opted for the 'CX' version of Fulcrum's new Racing Sport DB wheelset - getting the upgraded 'double gasket' hub seals for more time spent riding and less maintaining! The wheels also utilise Fulcrum’s new C17 new-school wider rim profile (23mm OD/17mm ID) and weigh in at a very competitive 1892g per pair. Not too shabby!
