Combining the latest-and-greatest technology from Japan with a beautifully crafted Reynolds 725 steel frame, the Equilibrium Disc 30 looks every part the proficient modern classic.
Adding to the Equilibrium Disc's capable character comes Shimano’s harmoniously integrated 11sp shifter/hydraulic brake package. Dropbar riders are now free to enjoy the power, consistently high performance and industry-leading reliability that mtbers’ have been relishing for years
With wide-range gearing, the forgiving, compliant ride of a good steel frame, generous tyre clearances and mudguard and rear rack eyelets, the Equilibrium Disc 30 is the perfect 'one' bike for any tarmac occasion, whether that be commuting to work, sucking up the pothole thumps, fast weekend club rides or even tackling the cobbles and climbs of the Spring Classics!
Classic seamless Chromoly (as above) but heat-treated to boost tensile strength. Think of it as Chromoly on steroids. It’s heated to around 1600F whereby a structural change in the steels’ crystal lattice occurs (a stronger, more uniform orientation). As it’s stronger we can away with using less of it so thinner butts are the order of the day here, helping to achieve a lighter overall frame weight, without compromising strength.
The 'Paris Roubaix' part should be a dead giveaway as to the type of riding these high-volume, lightweight (~240g) 27c tyres are aimed at - fast and comfortable over rough surfaces. AKA ideal for the majority of the UK's roads!
Shimano continue to pave the way in regards to hydraulic braking in dropbar format. Their new ST-RS505 shifter units pick up where the ST-RS685 left off, combining conventional mechanical 11sp shifting and dedicated hydraulic braking in a more affordable, accessible package. They offer consistent, powerful braking and exceptional lever modulation all backed-up by Shimano's legendary reliability. A real game changer.
With the UK's infamous weather in mind we've opted for the 'CX' version of Fulcrum's new Racing Sport DB wheelset - getting the upgraded 'double gasket' hub seals for more time spent riding and less maintaining! The wheels also utilise Fulcrum’s new C17 new-school wider rim profile (23mm OD/17mm ID) and weigh in at a very competitive 1892g per pair. Not too shabby!
