A modern performing stainless steel mile muncher with timeless classic looks!
That ever-present compliant and forgiving 'magic-carpet' ride feel of steel in a stunning and durable stainless-steel package. Part of the new wave of 'super steels', Reynolds 931 sits just below their flagship 953, offering a similar strength-to-weight ratio as 853 with added anti-corrosive resistance (thanks to it's 17% Chromium content) to offer both durability and looks to last a lifetime.
Add-in a Shimano 11-speed 105 drivetrain, dedicated hydraulic disc brakes, choice Racing Sport DB CX wheels from Fulcrum, stylishly minimal graphic treatment and full mudguard and rear rack compatibility and there really aren't many stones left to turn!
More workable and less labour-intensive than 953, Reynolds 931 is a seamless, cold-worked, precipitation-hardening (also known as artificial aging/age hardening) steel-alloy. It offers good tensile strength (1200-1350 Mpa - similar to that of Reynolds 853) suitable for wall thicknesses down to 0.4mm and even better corrosion resistance!
The 'Paris Roubaix' part should be a dead giveaway as to the type of riding these high-volume, lightweight (~240g) 27c tyres are aimed at - fast and comfortable over rough surfaces. AKA ideal for the majority of the UK's roads!
Shimano RS505 Hydraulics
Shimano continue to pave the way in regards to hydraulic braking in dropbar format. Their new ST-RS505 shifter units pick up where the ST-RS685 left off, combining conventional mechanical 11sp shifting and dedicated hydraulic braking in a more affordable, accessible package. They offer consistent, powerful braking and exceptional lever modulation all backed-up by Shimano's legendary reliability. A real game changer.
Fulcrum Racing Sport DB CX
With the UK's infamous weather in mind we've opted for the 'CX' version of Fulcrum's new Racing Sport DB wheelset - getting the upgraded 'double gasket' hub seals for more time spent riding and less maintaining! The wheels also utilise Fulcrum’s new C17 new-school wider rim profile (23mm OD/17mm ID) and weigh in at a very competitive 1892g per pair. Not too shabby!
