The Flyer gets some small but significant tweaks for 2016, turning it into what we feel makes for the ideal singlespeed winter trainer.
Sharing the same tube spec and geometry as the sure-footed Equilibrium, we’ve opted for the classic ‘winter trainer’ 42/17T combo, returning an open-road, cadence-friendly 65.2GI. And, because we’re nice you’ll find options for fixed/freewheel setup straight out of the box.
It’s shod with Maxxis Re-Fuse puncture protection rubber but should you find yourself in need of dropping out the rear wheel, the traditional forward-facing Campagnolo-style horizontal dropouts makes it a doddle, even with the mudguard fitted.
Last but by no means least, we even designed our own custom XL length Chromoplastic mudguards for unbeatable protection from the elements. A well thought through, lightweight, low-maintenance bike that laughs in the face of grotty weather.
One speed to rule them all!
The old classic 42/17T fixed/singlespeed gearing combo returns a cadence-friendly 65.2 gear inches that’s perfect for open road riding, ensuring you’ll not spin out too quickly on the flats but not putting your knees through hell on the climbs.
AKA ‘Thor’s Hammer’ and pronounced ‘Myol-n(ee)r‘ (rolls off the tongue, eh?). Our double-butted, cold-drawn, seamless, Taiwanese chromoly tubeset also goes by the aliases of 4130, Cr-Mo and Chromo. It’s a like-for-like replacement for other, identical branded chromoly tubing and ultimately means a saving can be passed onto you via either a healthy price drop or a little more room for up-speccing elsewhere without sacrificing performance.
