There's good reason why the Equilibrium has been a staple in our range for many a year now – the combination of a lightweight, durable double-butted chromoly frame, classic looks, full-length mudguard capabilities and sublime ride and handling qualities has made it a true riders’ favourite; to many as the quintessential four-season UK road bike.
Don’t let the classic styling cues fool you into thinking this is some sort of retro throwback; here classic form meets modern function in perfect harmony to ensure the Equilibrium 10 rides every bit as good as it looks.
With a little more relaxed geometry vs. a conventional road race frame (longer wheelbase, slacker headtube angle & more fork offset), the Equilibrium is our lightweight steel all-rounder, ideally suited to big mile rides where comfort, stability and efficiency come before KOM leaderboards. That said, it’s no slouch, the surefooted geometry, spritely steel frame and lightweight carbon fork work wonders to smooth out and tame the worst of the UK broken roads and will have you descending and cornering like you’re on rails!
AKA ‘Thor’s Hammer’ and pronounced ‘Myol-n(ee)r‘ (rolls off the tongue, eh?). Our double-butted, cold-drawn, seamless, Taiwanese chromoly tubeset also goes by the aliases of 4130, Cr-Mo and Chromo. It’s a like-for-like replacement for other, identical branded chromoly tubing and ultimately means a saving can be passed onto you via either a healthy price drop or a little more room for up-speccing elsewhere without sacrificing performance.
New-school wide (22/17mm), tubeless compatible Alex AT-470 rims give a vastly improved tyre profile and an increased interior volume, allowing lower pressures and increased comfort without any loss of speed. They’re shod with gumwall Clement Strada LGG 700x25c rubber for that classic nod and double-butted spokes for weight savings.
Shimano’s striking new Tiagra 4700 10sp groupset comes loaded with trickle-down tech and features from their top tier road gruppo’s, like offset 4-bolt BCD crankarm, under bartape routing, improved hood profile, long arm/light action front derailleur to make it arguably the best bang-for-your-buck components on the market.
The Equilibrium is a versatile bike, designed to be used daily in all conditions. As such you’ll find mudguard eyelets front & rear along with generous clearances and long-drop 57mm brake calipers, all designed to make fitting full length mudguards a breeze. There are also rear rack eyelets out back for light load carrying duties should you wish.
