Front Bags
Handlebar bags are a versatile way to add accessible storage to any bike, from commuters to bikepackers. Mounted at the bars, they keep snacks, tools, phone, and layers within easy reach without dismounting. Styles include compact zip pouches, roll-top bikepacking bags with harnesses, and randonneur boxes that pair with a rack or decaleur for stability. Look for durable, weather-resistant fabrics (nylon, Cordura, or waterproof laminate), secure mounting (Velcro, Voilé-style straps, or bolt-on plates), and minimal sway. Check bar width, cable routing, and brake/shift lever clearance; drop bars and flared gravel bars often need narrower bags. Weight on the front can affect steering—pack light, balance with a saddle or frame bag, and keep heavy items centered. Useful features include map pockets, external bungees, light mounts, reflective accents, and internal organisation. For rough terrain, a harness plus dry bag reduces rub and improves rigidity. Always test fit before longer rides.
