Trek Checkpoint Gravel Bikes FAQs

What is the Trek Checkpoint designed for?

The Checkpoint is built for adventure and gravel riding, making it ideal for exploring dirt roads, bridleways and light singletrack. It features a comfortable endurance-focused geometry, generous tyre clearance and multiple mounting points for bottles and bikepacking gear. If you enjoy venturing off the beaten path, the Checkpoint is designed for exactly that.

What makes the Checkpoint+ SL different from other electric gravel bikes?

The Checkpoint+ SL is an electric gravel bike designed to extend your adventures with a natural-feeling assist up to 25 km/h from the new TQ HPR60 mid-drive motor. It features a lightweight OCLV 500 Series Carbon frame and includes all the gravel-focused features found across the Checkpoint range, such as 50 mm tyre clearance, comfortable Gravel Endurance geometry, IsoSpeed technology, multiple mounting points for gear and compatibility with suspension forks and dropper posts. It's the perfect choice for riders who want extra support on long, varied terrain.

What is OCLV Carbon?

OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) Carbon is Trek’s specially engineered carbon fibre technology used in frames, wheels and other components. The carbon sheets are arranged in precise patterns and then compacted under controlled heat and pressure to achieve the perfect balance of carbon and resin. This process reduces voids—tiny gaps that can weaken structure—resulting in exceptionally strong, durable carbon that meets and even surpasses aerospace standards.

Do I need to register my Trek bike to qualify for the lifetime warranty?

Yes — to benefit from Trek’s lifetime warranty (Trek Care), you must register your bike with Trek. Registration is quick and helps protect your purchase by keeping an official record, which can be useful if the bike is ever lost or stolen. It also ensures Trek can contact you about important product updates or technical information. Your details are kept private and are never shared.
