Trek Madone Road Bikes FAQs

What is OCLV Carbon?

OCLV (Optimum Compaction Low Void) Carbon is Trek’s specially engineered carbon fibre technology used in frames, wheels and other components. The carbon sheets are arranged in precise patterns and then compacted under controlled heat and pressure to achieve the perfect balance of carbon and resin. This process reduces voids—tiny gaps that can weaken structure—resulting in exceptionally strong, durable carbon that meets and even surpasses aerospace standards.

How often does a road bike need maintenance?

It is advised to service your bike every 3-4 months for regular riding or in tough conditions, while less regular riders can service every 6 months to a year. Keep in mind that your bike will require its initial service after 4 to 6 weeks, once the cables and components have settled in. We advise having a qualified mechanic perform this service.

Do I need to register my Trek bike to qualify for the lifetime warranty?

Yes — to benefit from Trek’s lifetime warranty (Trek Care), you must register your bike with Trek. Registration is quick and helps protect your purchase by keeping an official record, which can be useful if the bike is ever lost or stolen. It also ensures Trek can contact you about important product updates or technical information. Your details are kept private and are never shared.
